

Austin is the capital city of the state of Texas, and is centrally located in the large southern state. The city has 786,382 residents, according to the 2009 Census, and is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area — the 35th largest metropolitan area in the United States.
Austin is well known as being the home of the University of Texas, a Big 12 powerhouse in both college football and NCAA basketball. The city of Austin is also well known for hosting live music events such as the three-day Austin City Limits Music Festival and the film/music/interactive festival South by Southwest. The city’s official slogan is “The Live Music Capital of the World.”
Austin has the 48th largest number of television households in the United States, with 678,730 “TV Homes” according to the Nielson Media Local Market Estimates of 2010.
Austin has a number of television stations that broadcast from within the Austin city limits including KTBC 7 FOX, NWS 8 TWC, COAC 10, 11, 16, KNVA 12 CW, KLRU 18, KVUE 24 ABC, KXAN 36 NBC, and KEYE 42 CBS.
Austin has seen a number of broadcasting personalities come through their local stations including former KTBC Fox anchor and reporter Mike Emanuel, who is now a Fox News White House Correspondent; former KVUE ABC reporter Arthel Neville, who was later a reporter for both CNN and Fox News; and former KEYE CBS anchor Shaun Robinson, currently at Access Hollywood.
The city of Austin has a number of radio stations within the city limits that broadcast on both FM and AM frequencies. These include FM stations: KAZI 88.7 FM, Urban Contemporary; KMFA 89.5 FM, Classical; KUT 90.5 FM, Public Radio; KVRX 91.7 FM, College; KLBJ 93.7 FM, Rock/Top 40; KKMJ 95.5 FM, Adult Contemporary; KVET 98.1 FM, Country; KASE 100.7 FM, Country; KPEZ 102.3 FM, Adult Album Alternative; KLGH 107.9 FM, Classic Rock; and AM stations: KLBJ 590 AM, News/Talk; KVET 1300 AM, Sports; and KFON 1490 AM, Spanish Radio.
